I don't even wear lipstick...

at least not anymore...I think it was all the bright red lipstick they made us wear when I was a flight attendant back in the day - 'DC10 lips' we called em' - cuz they wanted the patrons at the back of the flight to be able to see your lips at the front of the plane...

Sick...
I'm more a lip gloss or chap stick kind of gal nowadays...I blame them!

Anyway - Last week my gal pal Kay over at Cribsheet posted about a recent experience ~ and titled it appropriately Why I Wore Lipstick to my Biopsy ... It struck a nerve with me ~ for many reasons really.

The last twelve months have been pretty ugly in the death department for the hubs and I - we have attended (and not attended) far too many services for people we know ~ friends of ours, who's lives were cut much much much too short. Add in the fact that my sister has been battling breast cancer for the last few years (she is now in remission but as a result of her chemo, etc has lost her vision). This sister is biologically my aunt but as some of you know - my biological mom died at a very young age and I have no way of knowing a lot of my family history...

Add in my own fleeting mind and you have a recipe for a mental disaster!
The last month or so I've been feeling some random 'breast' pain if you will - I have been ignoring it (or trying to) and telling myself it's a pulled muscle. Or something. Something that is nothing.
Well - after reading Kay's two posts on her own experience with a mammogram...I decided to finally speak up and ask a doctor today -
Much to my surprise he told me that yes, we should get an appointment for a mammogram scheduled sooner rather than later so we can (hopefully) rule out anything too serious!

ACK! I'm HARDLY old enough for a mammogram ~ but as we've been reminded over and over and over and then over again - 'life don't wait for no one!' and I'd rather have my fears and phantom pains put to rest so I can move on and worry about the next not-so-big thing.

In the meantime - say a little prayer for me...
And now, I'm off to purchase a new tube of lipstick!

Darcie, thank you for listening to that nagging voice in your head, and any second thoughts that Kay had about sharing that story can be wiped away, because she clearly affected one person.

I'll be praying everything is fine!
