How did it get so late so soon? (Part 218!)

Saturday, September 12, 2009

It's night before it's afternoon - December is here before it's June - How did it get so late so soon!

So Friday we had a pretty busy day...I started out with taking the kids for hair cuts...as you may or may not remember - not my most favorite thing to do...I like the longer hair do on the boys ~ but even though he doesn't come right out and say it, Daddy doesn't. Because we have family pictures in a couple of weeks - I decided to hop in to the Kids Hair down the road and get them some new do's -

Big Sister ending up getting 3 inches chopped off ~ The gals assured me they could still do a darling up do for next month when H is a flower girl so...We went with it -

Little brother wasn't terribly long at this point - not like before...

But we got him all 'cleaned up' too -

And I think it turned out pretty sharp...don't you?

I just love when I ask him - "How did you get so good lookin?' To which he replies in that sweet little voice of his "oh, from my Dad"

During haircuts I happened to say to H ~ you'll have to let me know when you are ready to get your ears pierced - and she immediately told me "Yes, I am. Today!" This was completely out of the blue for her - We have asked her dozens of times if she'd like her ears pierced - to which she always asks us "Will it hurt?" - We tell her it will for a little bit and she always says no -
We wanted it to be her choice - and she claimed to be ready!
So...I got ahold of Daddy at work and talked to him - he of course, was indifferent. I thought we'd go when Daddy got home from work but H wanted to 'prise him...
And so we did...

We buzzed over to the maill and she hopped right up in that chair...

She scoped out the tools & the earrings...

And quietly sat waiting...

She selected an adorable pair of 14k gold pink flower shaped earrings...
And as you can see from this picture taken a couple of minutes afterwards - she couldn't be happier!

Don't get me wrong - She did indeed say "OUCH" after it happened - and two seconds after saying that she decided to cry - and that lasted about four seconds. Then she promptly hopped out of the chair, picked up a goofy looking stuffed animal and asked me for not one, but two of them. A Mama and her Baby. Of course, I obliged!

Joe Cool here picked out these shades - $10.50 sticker price - on clearance for just .50! SCORE!

Want to know what else Joe Cool got on this girls' oriented shopping excursion?

His very own bottle of blue nail polish!

Because you see my friends...While I was busy watching & snapping photos of our first born getting her ears pierced...this little guy was happily painting his finger nails in our stroller with this yet unpaid for bottle of bright blue nail polish he had discovered on one of the display shelves...Needless to say - we bought it! HA!

I always say that parenthood is full of battles, and life is too short to pick battles not worth fighting...this folks, is one we don't feel is worth fighting...
The way I figure it - he could have asked to get his ears pierced right?

Super cute! love the earrings and the blue polish. I let my 4 year old have colored polish, too. :) I think we have red, black and green.
