The 4th of July ~ what is it if not food, family...and fun!

We were lucky enough to have plenty of each this 4th of July holiday ~

After grilling up some awesome eats...
D took his younger cousin for a cruise on the 4 wheeler...

I'm not sure if there is anything so cuuuuute...

H kept herself busy making *fireworks* out of chalk on the driveway...

And someone may or may not have thought the chalk looked nicer on his face instead than it did on the ground! HA HA!

The kids settled in nicely while the hubs got busy on a spectacular backyard bonfire...

Smores were enjoyed...

By family of all ages...

The fire was perfection...(GREAT JOB HONEY!)

But the raging MN Mosquitos and the early morning wake up calls had us running for indoors earliar than I wanted to...

Rise and Shine...4th of July day brought, what else, a parade...

Cousins, waiting for the parade to start...

Our group, basking in the sun waiting on the parade...

Turns out, our office VIP seats were a dud this year...the 2 alloted spots in the shade were taken...leaving us no choice...(doesn't it figure the ONE YEAR I don't bring a blanket, an umbrella, etc!)

And after a hot day in the sun, taking in a parade, more great grilled grub, some time in our backyard kiddie pool and bounce house water slide...

Even though we were all tired and exhausted...

We headed out for fireworks...

It's hard to know where to go, when there are a dozen cities around you with fireworks shows...

We ended up at Valley Fair - or, if I'm being specific, in a field ACROSS from Valley Fair.

(Notice the rides in the fireworks photos! -
Yes, people were enjoying themselves on the rides while the fireworks shot off overhead...)

It was an awesome nightcap to a fun filled weekend...

A weekend filled with many adventures.

A weekend filled with great food...great friends, and great family...
we don't see our family near enough...

It's hard, raising kids & having 99.9% of our adventures with no family around. Of course, our kids don't know any different...but I do.

I'm trying to change that - but it's easier said than done...

We are so very grateful for the times we do have together...

And we can't wait for next time!
