Positive thoughts and Prayers...

So a few weeks back I introduced you to a dear dear friend of mine named Joanna from way back in the day. We've been friends forever (or more than 20 years if you really want to know how long forever is!)
Joanna has been following her heart and has been doing volunteer work in Haiti since November. The longest of her multiple mission trips to Haiti. This past Tuesday I was home sick, very very sick, when I awoke to news of a massive earthquake in Haiti.
I did not think I could get any sicker as I'd been throwing up for nearly 15 hours, but my heart just sunk & indeed, I felt even more sick to my stomach. Hearing the news reports and seeing the devastation that was Haiti, knowing that Joanna has been in Port au Prince...I was scared. On pins and needles I waited for word that she was ok...
It took awhile - but we got news that she was ok - I have been checking her blog knowing that there would be no updates, but hoping all the same...
Thankfully her friend Andy has been able to give us a little bit of insight...

Today she was able to update her facebook status - and I shed tears of joy just knowing that she is still ok.

PRAISE GOD. I just heard gertrude and TiJean are ok. I have no time to read any emails sorry. I know very little other than I am ok. We are working through the night at an outdoor clinic. 3 hours of sleep since the incident. I have to be honest it is kind of terrifying to be here. It is a total battelfield. My he...art races all the time. Thanks so much for your prayers.

I am not sure whether to turn off the tv or to stay tuned. It is scary and I cannot imagine the devastation that Joanna is in the midst of. Tonight as you sit on your couch watching American Idol or some other show that tomorrow has no relevance in our lives, in the warmth of your house, walking to the cupboard to grab whatever it is your heart desires...Please think of Joanna and the other *rescue workers* in Haiti who not only have nothing, but who are risking their lives to save others.
Joanna is scared and she could use our prayers.
As for how to help...I do not know what we can do exactly, so I direct you again to Joanna's blog. With her being directly involved with Mission trips to Haiti - I know that there will be reliable and useful information posted there.
I myself, am even more so looking forward to my volunteer session at Feed My Starving Children with 39 other local bloggers next week - something that has been set up for some time but now more than ever, is going to be soo soo important.
Please keep Joanna and the people of Haiti in your prayers tonight.

Keeping her in my prayers. She's lucky to have you helping her, even if from afar.

I'm so happy to hear she is OK. One of my coworkers does mission trips regularly and has done one to Haiti. He's organizing a session at Feed My Starving Children for us a team, and I can't wait. Have fun at the blogger event.

I am so glad she is okay, how scary for you and her family to not know.
