One of the things on our Summer Bucket List is a trip to the Elko Speedway.
Going to the Grand Forks Speedway back home was something I loved to do when I was younger and for the last few years we've talked about taking our kids to the races...

Not quite sure if they were ready, or if it would be too loud, etc - We found the perfect alternative -

Quarter Midget Racing on the Mini Elko Track!
Our dear friends (our previous daycare provider) are a big time racing family -
and that includes...their kids!

Our kids wasted no time making themselves at home...

And we saw a side of our H that we haven't seen in awhile...a teeny tiny air of confidence in her step...getting concessions and then heading back to the bleachers without her Mom! ACK! (I could see her though, I knew she was safe!)
Being with old friends will do that for a person I suppose...

And speaking of the concessions...
Um...WALING TACOS! YAY!
Back home we call them Taco in a Bag but whatever...
They still Rock!

What I learned, is that racing is not for the weak...or weak of heart...
The cars are push start cars...
(Mom pushing brother - Dad pushing Sister who race in the same heat!)

It was fun to watch, though a little bit nerve wracking...

Because things like THIS happen...to our FRIENDS!
But seconds later - she was upright and good to go again!

Yep. Nerve wracking or not - it was a GREAT night to spend outdoors with some very special friends...

I haven't decided yet if I can knock Elko Speedway off the official Bucket List yet - I'd still like to get out there and see the racing kids' dad race on a Saturday night...And I think our kids would enjoy it...but the schedule...oh the schedule...
So, I'm gonna give this one a half check for now - and if we're lucky - we'll get to take in the real deal before the season is over...
