In Bloom....

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

I'm not sure why it took me 9 years...but I'm finally really enjoying our yard...
The before and after of what our side yard looked like -
The dirt? Last Spring...
The obnoxious flowers everywhere? That's today.
That same area - looks like this...

Things are blooming out of control around here -

And I love seeing what opens up next...

There's something so beautiful, so peaceful about watching the transformations...

And we've got some new friends who've moved in who seem to be enjoying it too! Anyone know what these guys are?
They look like the Monarchs but yellow? Hmmmm - just not sure...

We were so excited about our Monarch Caterpillers that we discovered - we brought a couple, ok, three, inside and put them in our butterfly habitat...

The kids really wanted to show their daycare friends - and I was so sure the little guy out front who had already began spinning some silk webbing would form a chrysallis today...so I agreed...

And when I picked them up several hours later - we did indeed have not one but TWO chrysalides!
(Sadly, the guy out front didn't make it but his two friends did.)
The kids were able to witness the 2nd one being formed! How cool is that! These don't even look REAL do they?

And now, we wait until our Monarch Butterflies emerge! I'm not sure I'll ever grow tired of the Butterflies...And to think it all started with seeing just how easy those Live Butterfly Kits were provided to us via Insect Lore!
Ah yes, finally, our yard is becoming my sanctuary...
Now...about that new deck....

I was saying the exact same thing last night, "I can't believe we've been in this house so long and now we're finally enjoying the yard." I can't wait to get my hands on those sweet smelling flowers. I keep staring at my garden trying to figure out where they should go.
