(Free!) Fire Safety Fun

Saturday, October 23, 2010

Last week was Fire Prevention Week and the kids were learning all about fire prevention, and stop, drop and roll at their daycare...

When we got notice that our local fire station was hosting a free open house, we thought it would be fun to stop in -
Our dear friend & neighbor is a retired firefighter and he let the kids borrow his REAL...OFFICIAL Fire helmet...
They thought that was pretty cool....

And the fire station had fire fighter hats for the girls and for the boys...

D checked out the inside of many of the service vehicles...

And we saw a cooking demo that resulted in some familiar scenes...
My friend Katie asked the kids something along the lines of if this happened when their mom cooked - to which Hailey responded..."My mom doesn't cook!' aye aye aye...(It's true! I really don't!)

J & Katie

D and Sparky...

It was a lot of fun, albeit a lot crowded...but it was free & it was informative...
I love giving the kids the chance to see and visit with our local fire fighters and policemen...
It helps them to build confidence in the *strangers* should they ever need assistance...
