Easter Dinner ~ What to do...What to do.

Wednesday, April 4, 2012

When I was a kid - Easter was a BIG thing.
I mean, BIG.

Growing up Catholic - It meant lots of church...Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday....It meant egg hunts and Easter baskets and beautiful new dresses. It meant celebration.

Food. Food. And...you guessed it - more food!
There was always ham, potatoes, salads, desserts ~

Now, here I am, almost a full grown adult, or, supposed to be anyway.
I'm just a couple of days shy of Easter and I have nothing...and I mean nothing...on my dinner menu for Sunday.
With both of my parents having passed away ~ And it being just me and my hubs and kiddos around these parts to do 'life' ~ Easter Dinner just hasn't been a huge priority these last few years.

I'd like to change that...
And, thanks in part to my role as a Hormel Foods Extended Family Blogger, I think that I can!

Hormel Cure 81 Ham!
It's no secret that I'm no whiz in the kitchen - add in the fact that I'm a picky eater and I have passed that gene (humor me here people!) on to our daughter and well, sometimes cooking is lost on us.

This, this is where Hormel Cure 81 Ham comes into the picture.
As taken from the Hormel Website...

Ham Prepared the Old-Fashioned Way

Slow cooked and cured, Cure 81® oven-ready spiral sliced ham is ham prepared the old-fashioned way with handcrafted care—but with a modern, convenient twist. You don’t have to be an expert to serve a great-tasting ham, because this premium bone-in spiral is packaged in a convenient, oven-ready bag. The bag’s Fool-Proof™ technology allows you to take the ham straight from the fridge to the oven—no handling and no mess. It also seals in the natural juices, providing a moist and juicy ham every time. Guaranteed to satisfy even the most demanding family member and eliminate holiday meal stress.
AND...
Cure 81® hams are sized for every meal occasion. Whether it’s for a large family get-together, quick lunch or dinner for two, there is a Cure 81® ham just right for the occasion.

I can handle this! (Right???)

So...There's the centerpiece for a delish Easter Meal for my little family of four...

This is where you come in...What else have you got for me friends? What do you make for Easter?
Do you have any recipes I should put together for our family this Sunday?
I'd love to hear some ideas - I'm starting from scratch here folks...looking forward to making some new traditions...

We always have Deviled Eggs at Easter! Have to do something with all those hard cooked eggs we decorate!

Great Idea Meg! I love Deviled Eggs! Sprinkle a little Seasoned Salt or Bacon Bacon on them and...double yum!
