The Arrival of Summer ~ June 21st #Hormel Family

Monday, June 24, 2013

Here in Minnestoa, we had the longest.winter.ever.

Followed by a non-existent spring, and now, we just hit June 21st, the first day of SUMMER! YAY!

We love and live for summer here in the Great Midwest. Summer means no boots, hats, jackets, gloves...
Summer means daylight past 5 pm...and Summer means GRILLING as many meals as you can!

At our house, we often grill burgers, chicken and brats, for get togethers, or just for our family. I'm no whiz in the kitchen, but both the hubs and I can work our way around the grill pretty well, if we do say so ourselves...

Here's a picture taken of OUR grill this past weekend, celebrating Summer's arrival (in between the straightline winds and monsoon-like rains we had! ACK!)

Today's meat case is full of a LOT of choices.
Did you know there are more than 100 different meat cuts in the grocer's meat case at any given time, and more than 1000 names for those cuts across the United States?

Are you comfortable cooking meat in your kitchen or on your grill?
What meat do you find most challenging to prepare?

Here is a handy tip sheet of info prepared by Hormel Foods Test Kitchen Director Joan Hanson:
(Use a meat thermometer to check temps of meat to ensure accuracy)

I know at our house, we tend to stick with what we know, versus taking a risk and trying something new. Thankfully, you can rarely go wrong when you are cooking on the grill.

What's your favorite Summertime meal?
