Recipe Ideas for the Big Game (or, any random party!) #HormelFamily

Tuesday, January 21, 2014

Whether you are cheering for your favorite team or you are like me, just in it for the possibility of a great commercial, watching the Superbowl is a huge tradition for many people.
I can take or leave the big game...

Who doesn't love an excuse to get together with good friends and good food?

We are ALWAYS looking for fun new (and, if I'm being honest here...) EASY recipes to share for get togethers...
Which is why I was soo excited to find these -

3 ingredients?
SCORE!

  • 1 (6-ounce) package Hormel® Pillow Pack® Pepperoni (can use Turkey Pepperoni, a fav snack in our house!)
  • 1 (8-ounce) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
  • 1 (8-ounce) package Monterey Jack cheese with peppers

  1. Heat oven to 325ºF. Coat baking sheet with cooking spray.
  2. On baking sheet, arrange about 25 slices pepperoni. Place 1 slice water chestnut on each slice pepperoni.
  3. Thinly slice cheese so slices are slightly smaller than pepperoni slices. Place 1 slice cheese on each slice water chestnut. Top with another slice pepperoni.
  4. Secure each appetizer by inserting oven-safe wooden pick through all layers. Bake 10 minutes or until appetizers are hot and cheese is slightly melted.

Another FAV...

Prizewinning Potato Skins

  • 8 small baking potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup HORMEL® Real Bacon Pieces
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced green onions
  • Sour cream
  • *** For extra flavor, spoon 1 tablespoon Hormel® chili no beans onto each potato skin.
  1. Heat oven to 425ºF.
  2. Cut potatoes in half lengthwise. Place 8 halves on microwave-safe plate; microwave 10 to 12 minutes or until tender. Repeat with remaining 8 potato halves. Let stand until potatoes are cool enough to handle.
  3. Scoop out potato flesh to within 1/4 inch of peel; reserve potato flesh for another use. Place potato shells on baking sheet. Top shells evenly with cheese and bacon pieces. Bake 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and potato is lightly browned. Fill each potato with sour cream; sprinkle with green onion.

And, we know there is bound to be some Cheesy Queso Dip at the Party...
EVERY party, right???
but what about trying out a different dip recipe?

             Warm and Cheesy Bacon Dip

  • 1 (16-ounce) package sour cream
  • 1 (3-ounce) jar HORMEL® Real Bacon Bits
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup chopped green onions

  1. Heat oven to 400°F.
  2. In bowl, combine all ingredients; mix well. Transfer to 2-quart baking dish; cover.
  3. Bake dip 25 to 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Serve with assorted fresh vegetables, crackers and/or chips.

Do you attend or host a Superbowl party or other get together with friends?
What appetizer do you most look forward to enjoying?

Do you have a go-to plate you bring out at parties that your guests swoon over?
If so, I'd love to hear what that is!
