I look forward to this family date night every year - 

Circus Juventas in St. Paul Minnesota.

We've gone the last several years...maybe 5? 6? and it is just so so amazing.

My pictures are not - because hello, dark theater, acrobats, no flash photography, etc...

AND, I'm enjoying the show...

But seriously, check them out - 

this is one show you do not want to miss!

Tickets have gone up in price over the years, but I still find it a steal for the family to take in a 3 hour show for around $100...Bring a seat cushion - you'll need it!

buh bye braces!

In same ways, it feels like forever, and in other ways...

it totally flew by...

You could say that about a lot of things, I suppose!

But it was finally buh bye braces for our girl!

 Just 12 months from start to finish...

Expander - Retainer - Braces - Retainer!

Because getting her expander off was...an experience...I was worried about the braces coming off...

I need'nt have been!

They popped right off, revealing that beautiful smile!

Never too big to be picked up by DAD!

Deck Staining - A Minnesota Homeowner's Right of Passage

Last fall we finally replaced the dilapitated, falling down deck.

But it literally snowed the day after it was finished...and winter was oh so hard on our beautiful new deck! ::CRY::

The wood turned almost white.

::grumble grumble::

 

Nothing a little wood stain can't fix? Right?

It seemed to take us forever, but thankfully we are a pretty dang good team.

Even if I do boss him around more than I should....

It took four nights of working (after working!) until dark...

 

And the Mama Robin who had moved in so quickly didn't much appreciate us...

 

 

But wow!!

What a difference, no???

Do we really have to do this every year?

Yikes!

So with our freshly stained deck...

We headed out to furnish it!

It fits!! 

It all fits!!

But oh, heavens. Why must there always be so. many. pieces!

 

Derek got right to work assembling our new patio dining set!

And with just a little help from Dad....

They had it assembled in no time!

I wish we'd of done this years ago...

Or maybe just bought a house with useable deck in the first place!

We here in Minnesota take our summers very seriously!

Dining on the deck has been a long time coming!!

Fourth of July Firework Fun!

Somewhere along the way, we stopped leaving town on the 4th of July and have stuck around... 

Maybe that will change when we have that cabin...or camper...

but for now...

We make do...

This year, on a whim, we went to one of those pop up fireworks stands.

 

We tried out a few things, and had so much fun!

Then we hit up Valley Fair, once the temps had dropped down some...

 

 

 And when we got home...

Thankfully, most of our neighbors were gone!

Cuz we had some fun!

These pictures are terrible...but that's ok.

These are the seemingly insignificant moments that I hope they will remember forever.
