It's a Joe Dirt Halloween~

Friday, October 31, 2008

Halloween was so busy and so exciting in our neighborhood...that I had to give this one it's own post...It was a Joe Dirt Halloween over here...Rob pulled the mustang out of the garage and well...

A fire extinguisher...on stand by...

Because well...that hair - you just never know...

I'm not sure they even KNOW what they are looking at....

That armpit stain was no costume!

Nor was this CRACK!! HAA!

Does the little Bumblebee stand a chance?? He'll be sporting a mullet like his daddy in no time!

Happy Halloween!!

Halloween on a Friday night...and nice weather in Minnesota!! Does it get any better than this...? I don't really think so!
And a damn good thing because this year I bought nice fluffy WARM costumes for the kids so we didn't have to try and fit them OVER a snowsuit...The little miss helped me pic out an ADORABLE pink Care Bear costume...and then...refused to wear it. She insisted on being a fairy - in her costume from 2 years ago...yes, it still fit (because 2 years ago we DID have to put it on over her warm clothes)
~ so last minute I had to grab some tights and sleeves out of her closet to make it somewhat warm enough...Stubborn as she was...she made a stinkin' cute fairy!

I LOOOVE the look on her face - I wonder where she's seen that look before? Bosco was in some SERIOUS trouble before all of the festivities began...but I'm not really sure why...

Little brother on the other hand...not buying into the fluffy warm costume so much -

But once he figured out he could get outside...and what would go into the bucket...he was a bit more willing to go along with us...

I'm not sure I've ever seen a cuter little bumblebee than big E - They came over to celebrate his first Halloweener with us at the neighborhood bonfire ~

Bosco wanted to make sure Scooby was A-Ok...

I tried awfully hard to get a group pic of the little ones in the neighborhood...

Someone was always not looking!!

These two had the most fun of all the kids - D. yelling GO GO GO!
D is 2.5 months older than the sticky chicken (he'd open a sucker and then promptly lose it - and we'd find it stuck to his costume somewhere!!)

My fairy princess came inside, took of her gloves and shoes and promptly passed out cold...

Poor Scooby didn't even make it inside the house - he passed out in my arms at the bonfire...
It was sure fun trying to keep him sleeping but getting him out of that costume!!

Welcome to the World...I'm a GREAT Auntie

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

When it first hit me this morning - that I'm unofficially officially a "Great Aunt" with my niece giving birth last night to this little 8 pound 6 ounce bundle of joy...I was thinking - damn, I'm old....Now, the more I think about it...who the heck wouldn't want to be called a GREAT Auntie! I think it has a nice ring to it...

Welcome to the world Luke Andrew ~

I cannot wait to hold you and squeeze you and shower you in kisses!!

Is there a Doctor in the House??

Monday, October 27, 2008

So yesterday I came down the hallway to find this...Good thing that dog is so patient with our kids...especially with this kid! Big D was busy giving Bosco shots and checking his eyes...went on for a good 15 minutes before the dog decided his doctor was a quack and there was no reward for getting shots!!

Weekend Chores...

Who knew that lawn mowers had air filters?? Certainly not us...Good thing my husband figured it out after 7 years of using the same one!!

Cuz one of Big D's favorite things to do is help Daddy mow the lawn...and that's something I hope will continue because as he gets older...for all the mornings he's woken me up nice and early - he will be getting up nice and early to do just this!!

Yep, it was a beautiful fall day for getting some things done around the yard - you know, give the dog a bath after he rolled on crusty old snakeskins in the shrubs...If only you could smell through the computer...ugh...no pictures of THAT (this time anyway!)

We also raked up a few leaves and then played in them...

Which got me reminiscing about last fall when we were doing the very same thing...only D wasn't pushing a lawn mower then...it really is true how quickly the time does fly!
When I look back...these pics were taken exactly one year ago!!

Punkin's and Pumpkins...

Sunday, October 26, 2008

What a difference a year makes -

Check out last year's version of pumpkin' carvin' day at our house! My how they have grown!!

Today was pumpkin carvin' day at our house again...

and not much has changed in the fact that H still thought it was icky...

Soon they'll be too big to sit on the table next to the punkin's!

I don't really know how they ended up being angry looking Jack-o-Lanterns - Maybe cuz I was the one doing it while the rest of the family did their own thing once we got the tops off?

Big D. was more annoyed with the fact that I made him stop watching Scooby Doo long enough to take a pic than the actual disturbing pumpkins I carved...

The kids couldn't have cared less - maybe next year we'll get a carving kit and do something fancy...

At least I got them to sit long enough for a couple of pics right?
