Neighborhood Night Out...

This crazy hat was given to us when H was just a tiny babe - she refused to wear it - always...but recently D has pulled it out and begun sportin' it around the yard...

Anyhoo - the other night we were outside wandering around...
When our neighbors all started gathering - as we so often do...

One of the neighborhood boys helped D do 'snaps' ~ you know snaps - the 'safe firecracker'


But D ended up picking most of them up off the ground and trying and trying and trying again ~


H covered her ears - just in case...

And as dark hit - Auntie Betsy came out with a giant bowl of popcorn...I'm pretty sure it was her dinner - but the way to the Gust Kids' Hearts are with popcorn...So H took over the bowl~

D made himself at home with the older woman next door...He's really got a penchant for her lately...

And he spent his Friday night enjoying some popcorn with her...

Uncle Denny built us a bonfire and spent time wraastlin' with D ~

And we had a good time enjoying each other's company, the bonfire, and the occassional firework...

I've often said it - the neighbors are what keep us in this house...that we were never meant to stay in this long...or forever as is looking more and more like the case these days...but with neighbors like this - who wants to leave?
