Home Remodel Update - Long Overdue Carpet Project

If we stay or if we go...

One thing was for certain...

That carpet.

GROSS!

 

Never mind the duct tape - we had some subfloor replaced, then patched er up until the carpet installers could come!

And various forms of carpet, from room to room.

Yep.

Gross.

 

The stairs were the WORST!

15 years of traffic....

Yikes!

The hubs convinced me we also needed to redo the 'shoe floor' - in the entry way - 

Thank GOD he did!

Wow!

What a difference!

I can't wait to do the kitchen in this easy snaps together laminate flooring too!

Before and after of the entry way - YES! Another one of those...

WHY DIDN'T WE DO THIS SOONER!! Situations!!

The carpet has since been replaced...and looks one trillion times better!

Home Improvements never end, do they?

At least with us, we wait so very very long - that the before and afters are simply amazing! HA!

Deck Staining - A Minnesota Homeowner's Right of Passage

Last fall we finally replaced the dilapitated, falling down deck.

But it literally snowed the day after it was finished...and winter was oh so hard on our beautiful new deck! ::CRY::

The wood turned almost white.

::grumble grumble::

 

Nothing a little wood stain can't fix? Right?

It seemed to take us forever, but thankfully we are a pretty dang good team.

Even if I do boss him around more than I should....

It took four nights of working (after working!) until dark...

 

And the Mama Robin who had moved in so quickly didn't much appreciate us...

 

 

But wow!!

What a difference, no???

Do we really have to do this every year?

Yikes!

So with our freshly stained deck...

We headed out to furnish it!

It fits!! 

It all fits!!

But oh, heavens. Why must there always be so. many. pieces!

 

Derek got right to work assembling our new patio dining set!

And with just a little help from Dad....

They had it assembled in no time!

I wish we'd of done this years ago...

Or maybe just bought a house with useable deck in the first place!

We here in Minnesota take our summers very seriously!

Dining on the deck has been a long time coming!!
