Happy Valentine's Day!

Sunday, February 15, 2015

As a kid, I vaguely remembering making Valentine Boxes for school - I'm sure some were 'elaborate' - at least for the times! Wouldn't it be fun to find some old photos of those days?

I don't remember much - hey, I'm old!!
But I do remember making things out of oatmeal containers, you remember the ones, the big round cylindars!!  and the like...

We'd line them up along the window for everyone to put their Valentine's in...
EVERYONE got Valentine's - it was the rule!

This year, our kiddos got the opportunity to whip together Valentine Boxes for school too!

Derek chose to make the Titanic - all by himself..

And our girl chose to make, a toilet valentine box!
10 points for creativity?

Actually, she did win a prize at school, most creative for her class contest!

Here's our girl posing with her Toilet Bowl Valentine Box and her prize!

Ah, what will they think of next?

While not my most favorite holiday on the calendar ~

I will always do my best to make it special for those I love ~ Especially these two!

D got creative with our Tiny Prints Valentine's!
Notice his name in the hearts? All his idea!! ::melt my heart::

It was a little bit painstaking as he carefully addressed each and every one of these cards for his little friends at daycare, but oh my how proud he was...as am I!
Not to be outdone ~ Big Sister got in on the action when she got home from school ~
Carefully marking off the names on her class list ~
Though Valentine's are no new thing for our 6 year old heartbreaker...

Remember how I told you of her little boyfriend Markees?

Well, he's got some competition ~

The envelope that the above love note came in? Sealed & everything...aye aye aye.

I wish I could save every single one of these adorable created-by-six-year-olds love letters, but I can't, so...
I snap photos of them instead...and document them here.

May love always fill their hearts so easily.

Happy Valentine's Day!

From Us to You - Happy Valentine's Day...

I hate to be a scrooge...but I've never really liked Valentine's Day. Ever. Seems soo silly to be out spending a small fortune on flowers and cards and what not because the calendar tells you to.
Doing that on a random day...when the prices on said flowers aren't as inflated...sure - that might be nice...but Valentine's Day...
harumpf.
Add in the fact that this year marked ten years to the day, that my Dad passed away suddenly after suffering, what else, a heart attack...and well...
I'm just not into this whole Valentine's thing... I thought about writing a special post about my Dad...and I still might...but my thoughts are still pretty much right on to what I wrote two years ago...and while I started going thru my boxes and boxes of old family photos (oh how great it is to have digital now...) I just don't have it in me right now to do it...

But again, not to be a scrooge...Valentine's Day (a Sunday this year) came and went with pretty much no fanfare this year...but Monday...the kids had a great party at daycare where just like last year, they came home with more loot they we know what to do with...and then I surprised them with some clearance cupcakes to enjoy after dinner...

They were a hit...

And just for fun...here's a small clip of the kids saying Happy Valentine's Day day (like we have in years past (2008), and in 2009 )and talking about how you can mix the different colored frostings together to make paint!?!
