Happy Birthday Dad...

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Today would have been my Dad's 81st birthday. Eighty. One.
I'm not sure how that's even possible ~ but time sure flies!

Ten years ago - on Valentine's Day - my dad passed away after having a heart attack while getting ready for a meeting at our church.
He was 70 years old.

I will never forget that call.
I will never forget the great man that raised me and loved me, unconditionally.
When he should have been moving forward after having his own five kids...he was starting over with me...
Not an easy task if I am being honest...

Check out this awesome picture I found of him celebrating his 65th birthday ~ A carpenter by trade...he was sure to be using a saw to cut the cake, a blow torch to light off the fireworks...

Always joking around, that man.
And I loved him for it.

Happy Birthday Dad.

I hope you and the Big Guy are up there celebrating with Lemon Meringue Pie, salted peanuts and fireworks lit with blowtorches.

That's beautiful, Darcie...it is so hard when we lose the ones we love, but it is so good to keep their memory alive. Thinking about you...Amy

This is so sweet. I love that picture. He looks so serious as he's about to saw open his cake. He was and still is loved... that's all any of us can ask for.
