A Ruff Ruff (Rough) December ~

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

It was a rough, rough, RUFF, December on this family...

We had to say goodbye.
Forever.

We knew it was coming, even though it was hard to admit it.

& while I know we should have been so so glad for all the great years we had,
after all, he barely made his first birthday, much less ten, shiny, happy, golden ones!
It was still so so hard.

Explain it to these faces would you?

I made sure to take lots and lots (and lots and lots) of photos ~
He was such a handsome guy ~ this one.

but we loved him so.
He loved himself some squeaky toys.
Carrying as many as he could at once...daring you to try and take them away ~

He was a giant, but a gentle giant.
Known for stealing food, he was so so good with his kids.

He was so tolerant of those kids -
~ Letting Derek practice his doctoring skills when he wanted to ~

The kids have never NOT known Bosco to be in their lives.
Ever.

He has ALWAYS, ALWAYS been there for them.
He was there when we brought them home from the hospital for the very first time.
He's been there for every bump, bruise, milestone, celebration.

How many people can you say THAT about?

It's funny, the things you miss...
Even his sloppy drinking from the toilet ~

We loved you you handsome old stubborn as a mule dog.
What any one of us wouldn't give to come home and find you waiting for us at the top of the stairs, like you did every. single. day.

I know you were hurting old boy.
How I wish I could have picked you up and carried you back up the stairs each and every time you got down them, but couldn't get back up.

How I wish I could have found the magic pill that promised you would not be sitting in a wet kennel after being alone for just an hour.

                                                                  I heard a quote...
Dog's lives are too short - their only fault really.

                                                                  Isn't that the truth?

                                                                  We love you Bosco.

May all of your dreams of pigs ears and squeaky toys and pudding cups and pizza crusts
and endless lakes and squirrels in trees, be coming true.
