Spring is a time of 'new beginnings' - and even though we try hard to do it every day - at least twice! - the truth is, some days are harder than others...

That's why we are very excited to kick off Metro Dentalcare's Twice A Day challenge once again!
Who doesn't love a friendly little challenge?

We did this last year...and had great fun reminding each other in our house of the #twiceaday challenge!

The idea behind the challenge is this: Prevention and education are key to oral hygiene success. When you brush your teeth twice a day, you’re helping to prevent tooth decay, gum disease and extra procedures down the line. Active prevention saves time, money and stress.

Saints....

No - not our children - at least not all the time - This time, I'm talking The Saint Paul Saints!

We were the special guests of Metro Dentalcare at a St. Paul Saints game recently, and were able to enjoy a beautiful evening out taking in some outdoor baseball and great conversation with other area blogger friends (also Saints!) of ours! (Not to mention knocking another thing off the Gust Gab Summer Bucket List! YAY!)

Metro Dentalcare was on hand with a big wheel of prizes for all of the kiddos in attendance...Spinning the wheel got you a prize of a new toothbrush, kid's floss, one of the cool timers like they had previously sent us for their twice a day challenge, or toothpaste. Much to H's dismay - she got the toothpaste. Crest Kids toothpaste is just 'too spicy' for her - for now we have to stick to the flavored Oral B kids stuff -
D however, did get a cool new Lighning McQueen toothbrush! SCORE!

The kids enjoyed the evening out at Midway Stadium...

The game was almost over when we realized we were sitting below this giant billboard! Destiny?










And - We could barely believe it...but MEAT and his family were there too! Who is Meat you ask? Well, Meat is D's alien friend who comes around from time to time and takes D for rides in his space ship with his father...We've never actually seen Meat in real life - so it was pretty cool to see he and his family enjoying the ball game too!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame - Take II

Is there anything like a nice Minnesota evening and outdoor baseball?
Not much!

The hubs and I were lucky enough to be guests of Metro Dentalcare at the beautiful new Target Field & take in a Twins Game last week - It rained cats & dogs all day long so I wasn't sure how things were going to go...but, shortly before game time - the clouds parted - the sun peeked out and it was a perfect night for a ball game!




You know you have great seats when Wally the Beerman is working your section! (Yes people! He has his own Facebook group!)

My blogging buddy and friend Suzi from Pink Vanilla Cupcakes and her hubs also joined us and we enjoyed a great evening out. A game that certainly wouldn't of been as enjoyable indoors watching a ball game!

When I put a Twins Game on my Summer Bucket List - I had no idea we'd get to go TWICE! YAY!

And a HUGE HUGE HUGE thank you to Auntie Betsy & Uncle Denny for helping take care of the kids...date nights are much too few and far in between...you've made it possible for us and we are enternally grateful.

Soooooooo ~ how's it going at OUR house?

Pretty well - thanks to the awesome timers the kids got from Metro Dental Care. Seriously. They LOVE the timers. If you are having trouble getting your kids to brush - get a cute little sand timer like we are using...

No more 20 second we're outta here brushing...





Though the 6:15 am brushing before we head out to daycare & work 4 mornings a week is a bit sketchy...they happily brush their teeth twice in the evenings...Does that count?
And as for my own added twist...the flossing challenge...
Why is it sooooooooooo hard?

It's not too late...Go ahead...pick up that toothbrush!

Two Minutes Twice a Day for Two Weeks Challenge

If you know me in real life - you know that I have a total phobia of the dentist. I really really hate going to the dentist. We didn't go regularly as kids and so when we did - it was because there was an issue...a big issue..like a bad cavity...
It's nothing against my dentist or my awesome hygienist. They are extremely nice folks...It's me...In fact, I was just there this past Monday, and while they assured me that I am improving, they also tell me there is still room for improvement...

In January I wrote a post for a blog as part of a network of my girlfriends all inspiring each other to get healthier...

My dental habits are not boding well for my dental anxiety.

I've been bound and determined to make dental hygiene and dentist visits both routine and fun for our kids...Starting young is the key right?
Sadly, our girl already had to endure her first fillings...yes, I said FILLINGS! this past February.
GAH!
I was told that a lot of children's dental health is determined by genetics.
Great. Now I feel even WORSE about things! Thankfully our son still has picture perfect dental health!

Anyway - our little girl got through the appointment fairly well...Though even with the laughing gas...there were a few tears. (Hers and mine!)
So how do we go forward and put this behind us and do our best to make sure it doesn't happen again?

Brushing our teeth for two minutes. Two times every day. For TWO straight weeks.
And to up the ante on this challenge...I'm going to add flossing to my portion of the challenge.

I brush twice a day, but flossing? eh...not-so-much.
Our kids love to brush, and floss, their teeth...but if I'm being honest here, we don't typically brush their teeth on the mornings we are rushing to get out the door by 6:30 am - which is four days a week.

So...the gauntlet has been thrown down.
Two Minutes. Twice a Day. Two Weeks.
