Last First. Last Second.

Friday, May 30, 2014

People say it all the time, time flies.
it really does...to the tune of it making me physically ill sometimes.
seriously.

But seriously...
Didn't we just send our first born to Kindergarden just the other day?

or was it that we just had the first day of school for first and second grade?

Time. Flies.

First day of First Grade...

First Day of Second Grade.

And just like that, in the blink of an eye, even after the longest.winter.ever...

We are celebrating the last day of Second Grade, and the last day of First Grade.

Before and After

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

This kid grows some crazy hair...
He prefers it a little longer, and to be honest, so does the Mom...
But the dad, he prefers it short...
and let's face it...
sometimes, it's a bit on the out of control side!
like when he looked like a rocker through and through a couple of years ago,
or like when he did his own self portrait!

We have this same conversation every year...
long or short, short or long...

I always love the results when it's short.

We ultimately leave it up to him...

Before.

...it's summertime,
and what says Summer besides short hair cuts on little boys??

Still looking pretty dapper if I do say so myself!
And those freckles!
ACK!
Be still my heart!

Let me tell ya 'bout my best friend...

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

Baseball for him, Softball for her.
Sportin' the #7's like their Daddy does.

It keeps us running, literally...
but I wouldn't change a thing.

The greatest gift in the world is a sibling.
My wish for them is that they always remain close, and that they always have each other.

School YearBook Photos 2013-2014

Thursday, May 22, 2014

We have had an AMAZING year at an AMAZING new (to us) school.

Things have gone so very very well for all of us this year, and we are thrilled we made the change.
The school year books came home, and it was just one more thing that impressed me.

Instead of the traditional little tiny black and white photo squares,
our kids' school put together pages, in color...

like so...

First Graders Class of 2015

Seriously.
Have you EVER seen anything so stinkin' adorable?

Second Graders Class of 2024

Maybe this is something lots of schools do.
Maybe this is something that isn't a big deal to many, or any folks at all...

but to someone like me, someone who is obsessed with photos and documenting memories...
this is pretty spectacular in my book!

CUB® FOODS DEBUTS DIGITAL COUPONING PROGRAM

CUB® FOODS DEBUTS DIGITAL COUPONING PROGRAM
Online, Mobile Deals to Deliver Big Savings to In-Store Shoppers

STILLWATER, Minn., May 1, 2014 — Cub® Foods, a trusted hometown resource for fresh, quality foods, is offering customers an innovative, tech-savvy way to save money with the launch of its new digital e-couponing program.
Encouraging customers to “stop clipping and start clicking,” the program allows MY CUB REWARDS™ members to load valuable digital coupons available on Cub.com or the Cub Foods mobile app directly to their loyalty card to take advantage of savings on a wide variety of products throughout the store, including fresh produce, meats and seafood, and much more.

I recently got my own 'My Cub Rewards' Card.

Every time I was in the store...I kept thinking, well, I'm in a hurry, I'll get one next time.

Or...Is it even worth it? I'll just check out without one and go...

Finally I just did it. It was quick and painless, and took all of about 45 seconds to sign up. If you, like me, are a card carrying member of fifty dozen places and have a purse full of stuff like this, CUB® FOODS can look you up by phone number at the checkout - which I love!

Shortly after I signed up for the MY CUB REWARDScard,  before I even had a chance to investigate the mobile app ~ I received this email.

Who can't use $5 off their grocery bill?
Yes, you have to spend $55 to get the $5 off, but somehow, that happens to me every. time. I. go.
"I'm running in for bread!" I say...
And then I emerge with the a case of water, a box of cereal, a handful of frozen pizzas to quickly cook before our youth ball games, yogurt cups, a jar of peanut butter, a bag of oranges, and hopefully, if I remembered, the BREAD!

You can log in from the computer and add coupons from the weekly ad right to your card ~

Or you can get the app for your mobile phone, which was quick & easy to download.

Once members have loaded the digital coupons to their cards, they can use the card at the register.

The coupons they loaded will automatically apply to their purchase with one swipe of the card, saving time for customers and cashiers who traditionally scan physical paper coupons one by one. Savings will be printed on the customer’s receipt.

The Cub Foods mobile app and digital coupon features are also compatible with iPhone, including in Passbook, and Android devices.  It is available for free download in the iTunes App Store and Android Market.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to enhance the Cub Foods shopping experience with this new digital couponing program,” said Mike Stigers, president of Cub Foods. “The load-to-card system will provide our valued customers with a convenient new way to save on fresh, quality food, whether they’re planning their grocery list at home or using our mobile app on the go.”

To load digital coupons to their MY CUB REWARDS card, customers may visit Cub.com and log in to their account. If they do not have an active account, shoppers may register for the reward program on the website or in person at any Cub location.

Once logged in, users may access dozens of discounted items through the site’s Coupons or Weekly Ad Specials sections. By simply selecting a sale item and clicking the “Save to My Card” button, e-coupons will be instantly linked to their card for convenient in-store savings. Members can even create custom shopping lists featuring discounted items that sync with the card.
Cub fans away from their home computer or laptop can still load discounts to their rewards card with the Cub Foods mobile app through its eCoupons or Weekly Ad function.

While the new program gives customers an innovative new way to coupon, traditional paper coupons will still be available in-store and delivered directly to consumers each week.

Skippy Singles - Great Snacks on the Go! #HormelFamily

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

It's May, finally! YAY!

I love Spring, I love MAY!
But that means, we enter into, the busy season, in our household!

With not one, not two, but THREE ball players in our house, we find ourselves running from one place to the next most days every week right now.

While it is super fun and we are (mostly) having a great time, one of my major concerns is...

What do I feed the troops?

When we just barely get home from work/school/dance line/mad science...
with enough time for a quick change of clothes and get out the door, I need to have something to feed the kiddos to tide them over until we wrap up and can eat a decent dinner, albeit at 8:30pm some nights!

That's where SKIPPY® Singles come in!

SKIPPY® Singles – Calling all peanut butter lovers – your snacking prayers have been answered! The SKIPPY® brand introduces new SKIPPY® Singles: perfectly portioned single-serve cups of peanut butter, available in two varieties – Creamy Peanut Butter and Natural Creamy Peanut Butter – so you can have the great taste of SKIPPY® wherever you go.

SKIPPY® Singles can be enjoyed as a tasty spread on crackers, as a delightful dip with fruits and veggies, or straight out of the cup. They’re a great way to provide much-needed convenience for your busy lifestyle – easy to toss in a lunch bag while trying to get the kids on the bus, and a perfect solution for a protein-rich, on-the-go snack while en route to the soccer field. Each package includes six single-serve cups in an innovative re-sealable canister, which is ideal for convenient storage, and features a clear front panel so consumers can easily see when to add SKIPPY® Singles to the grocery list.

Well, doesn't THAT seem like a great snack before, during, after a baseball game?
Or what about those nights that you are responsible to bring the snack for the whole team?

Available in regular or SKIPPY®  Natural, what a great alternative to, well, lots of other snacks!

& our daughter, who is the World's Pickiest Eater, has found an alternative to her every single day lunch mainstay.
Instead of a PB&J sammy, which she has grown so very very tired of, and oftentimes doesn't even bother to eat, we are now packing her something a little bit different...still giving her some protein during her day at school! Win-Win!

This is also a great side for celery & graham crackers in the ol lunch box.

How would you eat peanut butter on-the-go?

Mama Robin celebrates Mother's Day

Sunday, May 11, 2014

Robin eggs are pretty much a right of passage here in Minnesota.

Every year, a bird builds her nest in the same place, under our deck.
Typically we just ignore it until mid summer, when we don gloves and toss it out.
(uninhabited, of course..)

This year though, with a Robin flying out from under the deck every time we walk down the steps or past the deck at ground level...
I decided to see what might or might not be in that nest.

Of course, I can't get my big head in between the deck boards and the nest, to see, as there is very little room...but behold...the power of what else...

THE MIGHT CELL PHONE!

Pics snapped quickly on 5/3/2014

The eggs are so pretty, they almost look fake!
I wish I could take my time and get a good shot with either a phone or a real camera...

These look like a portrait, not a holding up of the cell phone without being able to see, shot!
imagine what you could get if you could see what you are doing!

On 5/7/2014
I snapped a couple more...
because, well, I wanted to see what was in there!

The internet tells me that Robin Eggs are not always fertilized, and won't always hatch into anything.
I also read that if you take one egg out...the Mama Robin will lay another egg because she always wants to have 4 under her...
isn't THAT interesting?

It's temping...swiping an egg...just to see if it gets replaced...
but we would never...

Today, Mother's Day.
5/11/2014

These HAVE to be just hatched today, no?
Ugh.
They are soo creepy looking!

I wasn't sure what to expect to find in there...but when I walked by and that Mama Robin bolted at my presence...
I figured I'd hold the phone up and see!

I wish I could see through the boards of the deck...
but you can bet I'll be checking on these creepy creatures for the next few days to see their progression.

We are in the middle of some major house projects right now...
I'm hopeful this family moves up and moves out before they are forced to!
