Brace Face...

Wednesday, November 18, 2015

Well, he got his expander off a couple of weeks ago, thankfully!

Mom is NOT a fan of the palate expander experience...but wow, are our kids troopers!
Why does he look so different to me, in these pictures taken 30 minutes apart?

No, it's not JUST the braces...........

But the braces sure do make a difference, already!!

Because when you are 8...

Sunday, November 15, 2015

Isn't this the most logical place to park your bike at the local park?

ah, being a parent is never dull, is it?

And warm, sunny sixty + degree days in the middle of November? That doesn't get old either!

Thursday, September 17, 2015

Honest to God...

FOURTH GRADE?
Hailey, age 9

Third Grade!?!

Even though I don't blog it like I used too...
I still try to get in the pictures with the kids...
Why oh WHY do I always look so tired...

Well, I know...
it's because I am...but........heavens.

She was mostly ok with me coming to her classroom -
I mean, I can't do this in middle school, can I?
And that isn't too far away....
So....

But this one...he was super annoyed with me!
Oh well, Buddy!

Tie Dye Creations with Camp Streefland!

Thursday, August 13, 2015

We've been going to Camp Streefland for a few weeks every summer, for the last several years.

One of the highlights of daycamp...
is the TIE DYE!

Who doens't love a good tie dye?

But...when you go 2, 3, 4....maybe even a half a dozen times...
in one summer, that adds up to a lot of tie dye.
Shirts, socks, shorts, towels, pillowcases.

We've done it all.
But this time, the kids got a super cool, official, CAMP STREEFLAND, glow in the dark pillow case!

Didn't hers turn out soo amazing?

His did too - but not quite as colorful!

Here's hoping I can wash these things without washing out all of the color!

Palate Expander - Take 2!

Saturday, August 8, 2015

It's a little like De Ja Vu...
Weren't we just here?
oh yes, last summer with the girl...

but here we go again -

Palate Expander, take 2!

We've been visiting the Ortho periodically...
watching some issues that we knew were there...

Derek got his glow in the dark palate expander put on, Friday, August 7th.

We know how remarkable this process is, with Hailey having just spent the last 12 months going through this ortho experience...
So while a little bit daunting
(palate expander, nightly key turns, etc)

We know it is so very very worth it -

Shot before the appointment...
front teeth coming in at different times, a little on the wonky side...

Glow in the dark Palate Expander placement...

Always a trooper, this one.
This is harder on the mom, than it is on the kiddo, and that's alright with me!

Kudos Buddy!

Lacing them up, or hanging them up?

We've got three official seasons of ice hockey under our belts.

It seems like a rite of passage for so many Minnesota Kiddos, ours included.
But last season sort of dragged on...

And I'm just not sure we can commit to a whole 'nother season.

Though, season, is a relative term, as many hockey seasons here in Minnesota just simply never end.

We signed up for a 3x3 league and the first game is just around the corner.

I love the concept of 3x3.
Shorter ice, faster games, more chances to touch the puck.

I'm hoping this gives our little hockey player a chance to figure it out, if he wants to hit the ice full time, or if he's dragging his feet, literally.

No one wants to commit, the time, or the money, but man,, that TIME! to a full season of ice hockey, if it's going to be painful in more ways than one...

Time will tell.

Snackin with Hormel Foods - Turkey Pepperoni!

Friday, May 22, 2015

You may or may not remember last summer, when I shared one of our favorite on the go snacks?

Remember how great that works out?

We still love that...and it's still a quick and easy go to...
But for our growing, needs a change-up, still filling snack...

We've moved on to -

(Honestly, do you know how many recipes can incorporate pepperoni? The possibilities are endless!)

But my boy - he likes it just plain, straight up, right out of the bag!
(One for each hand, if a car trip is involved!)

When we buzz from one activity to another,
or if the game involves a double header, these pillow packs of pepperoni are an essential part of his uniform!

I love that he can get something that will fill him up enough to tide him over, and we aren't driving through one fast food place after another...at least not EVERY night!

Do you have a favorite on the go snack?
Share it in the comments!
