Minnesota's Largest Candy Store - The Big Yellow Building

Tuesday, November 11, 2014

Every year since we first stumbled upon Minnesota's Largest Candy Store
we've made it a fall, family tradition -

The place has grown by leaps and bounds since our first visit -
but it still has that small town feel that I love.

I mean, seriously?

Just tell the cashier how many you have loaded in your car???

WHO DOES THAT STILL?

The place just keeps getting bigger and bigger - and is packed full of candy, treats, good food,
and PEOPLE!

ohhh the people............

My kids think that bottled soda is such a treat -
though we usually get a cream soda and something else...

passing on some of the other more wild flavors available...

The pies, fresh from the oven, made with experienced hands and lots of love -
still taste amazing!

And the homemade signs are a huge fav of mine...

Especially this one...

PLEASE DON'T SQUEESE THE STRUDEL!

That's our boy to the right of the sign...you can supposedly get up there and take a photo -
it just doesn't quite work between the sun and the crowds and well...
you get the idea.

Minnesota's Largest Candy (and PUZZLE!) store!
Definitely worth a trip if you find yourself cruising down Highway 169!

Minnesota's Largest Candy Store - Take 2

Saturday, November 2, 2013

It's hard to resist a stop at the Big Yellow Barn,

So much goodness.

And so much...
oh my GOODNESS!?!
(Does anyone ever actually EAT these things?)

I never grow tired of their homemade goodness -
made right there on site - pulled from the ovens by older folks who know just how to bake a great pie.

The hand written descriptions and price tags...
there's just something about that ~

I love this place more and more every time we stop...

I mean seriously, who wouldn't?

Minnesota's Largest Candy Store ~ Family Tradition

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

every fall we take a jaunt just a few miles down the road to
Minnesota's Largest Candy Store!

I ask myself, why don't we go more often?
Well, because we shouldn't, that's why!

Everything in this store is amazing...
And some, larger than life!

One of my favorite things about visiting this store, is the nostalgia it brings me...

Some things, I had forgotten existed...until I see them in the store!

ASTRO POPS!

And remember these?

and some things, I wouldn't touch if you were PAYING me to try them!
Chocolate covered insects?
No. Thank. You!

I love the smell of this joint...
Always hot, always fresh...

There's something about the Grandpa behind the counter - helping with the pie production line that brings me a sense of comfort, peace...again, nostalgia...

We all look forward to fall, and to our visit to Minnesota's Largest Candy Store...
Everyone has a favorite thing ~
It's just narrowing it down to what we are going to get that's hardest.

Have you been to Minnesota's Largest Candy Store?
Definitely worth a stop/trip, in my opinion!

Minnesota's Largest Candy Store -

Sunday, November 4, 2012

We are so lucky to live near this gem, it's almost a tragedy we don't get there more often than we do.

Seeing the big yellow 'barn' will make anyone's day...

Walking around this store brings me back to my childhood...
Reminding me of things I didn't even remember existed.
& also reminding me of things I KNEW existed, but still could hardly believe it!
The one with the sweet tooth in our house never has trouble finding amazing things either!
And some stuff we come across -
Well, they mostly leave us shaking our heads.
I couldn't bring myself to actually buy one of these...but I still do wonder how they taste.
Bacon Lollipops?
Aye Aye Aye!

One thing I'm not afraid to buy, however, is the WARM, homemade Apple pies.
oh.my.WORD!

The homemade signs should tell you just how amazing these things are ~
this advertising really SAYS something.

It says homemade deliciousness!

And after our annual stop at Minnesota's Largest Candy store -
It was time for a quick visit to everyone's favorite...

Emma Krumbies.
While not quite as warm as last year, our girl still insisted on Capri's and her cowgirl boots -
A step in the right direction from last year's nightgown attire no?

Not great - but better than nothing right?

It was a tough year for crops, not to mention we went at the end of the season this year too -
I've seen the Orchards look better...

But chilly weather and mostly dead trees didn't stop us from making memories and having fun -
We love the fall!
